Hospitality Law
A destination management company (DMC) is a professional services company that provides regionally specific expertise and resources to create unique and memorable meetings and events for corporate clients. A DMC consults with their clients to plan, manage, and execute all aspects of a meeting or event including, but not limited to, tours & activities, transportation, entertainment, and décor. A DMC’s clientele is typically comprised of Fortune 1000 companies and third-party meeting planners.
For the past several years, Paul has worked closely with DMCs and immersed himself in the industry by being accepted to respected organizations such as the Academy of Hospitality Industry Attorneys (AHIA), as well as joining the Association of Destination Management Executives International (ADMEI).
Shortly following Paul’s introduction to DMCs, he sought to apply his skill set to improve not just the particular DMC he worked alongside, but all DMCs throughout the industry in an effort to improve the trade as a whole by sharing valuable insights and best practices. Paul ultimately became responsible for drafting the widely accepted model service agreement amongst DMCs, routinely speaks at industry events on emerging legal trends, and founded the DMC Coalition amidst the pandemic to provide structure and support to DMCs in need.

Trademark & Copyright
Trademark law, a segment of intellectual property law, is a set of laws used to protect any given word, name, symbol, or design that is used in commerce to identify the goods or services of one provider from another. A business’ name, logo or brand, for example, can possess significant (often immeasurable) value. Without a proper understanding as to how this asset should be carefully selected and protected, a company may be exposing themselves to unnecessary risk.

Labor & Employment
Labor & employment law deals directly with the rights of employers, employees, and labor organizations. Sound employment practices (e.g., proper hiring/firing procedures, use of an employee handbook, and proper classification of exempt/non-exempt employees or independent contractors) can drastically reduce the chances of litigation arising out of, for example, wrongful termination, retaliation, discrimination, or improper payroll practices.

Business
Business law, also referred to as commercial or corporate law, pertains to a wide array of legal issues impacting businesses and commerce. The most common areas of business law include corporate governance, corporate compliance, and commercial contracts.

Litigation
Litigation is a formal legal proceeding that occurs when one party sets out to enforce a particular right. The most common forms of litigation in a business setting arise out of breach of contract and partnership disputes.
